Statement regarding the desecration of the mosque in Skövde on 29 May 2024
Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Sweden expresses hope that the vandal act of desecration of the mosque in Skövde on 29 May 2024 does not represent a trend of disturbance in the relations of other groups and communities towards the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly Muslims. We wish to believe this was an isolated incident, and that Bosniaks and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to be recognised as exceptionally well integrated members of Swedish society, who in the spirit of tolerance and civilisational values contribute to enriching the country and society that welcomed them. We count on reciprocity in good intentions in communication between our citizens and those of different origins in the mosaic of modern Swedish society. This hope is shared by representatives of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by the members of Islamic community of Bosniaks in Sweden, as well as by representatives of the Union of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Associations in Sweden, of the World Diaspora Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and of the Bosnian Cultural Centre Västra Götaland, on the occasion of meeting at the premises of Islamic congregation in Borås, 2 June 2024.
